In lieu with the celebration of Operation Gratitude’s shipment of 250,000 care packages to US Service Members deployed in combat, the Tri-State Jeep Dealer’s Association has donated a new Jeep with quality Jeep brakes for the recipient of Operation Gratitude’s milestone Quarter-Millionth package.
The key to the new Jeep will be handed at a pre-game ceremony at Shea Stadium on July 15, 2007 Sunday. A Jeep representative will deliver the symbolic key of the 2007 Jeep Patriot Limited to the Operation Gratitude which will be included in the actual 250,000th package. This will be hand-delivered by a US Postal representative to the Military Post Office at JFK Airport for shipment overseas.
And to further support the Operation Gratitude’s mission, Tribune Broadcasting’s CW11/WPIX, together with the New York Mets, and Jeep will launch the “2007 Letter Writing Campaign” wherein one lucky writer’s letter will be chosen at random to be sent to a recipient of Operation Gratitude’s 250,000th package. The winning writer together with the US Service member who receives the 250,000th package will each be awarded with a brand new 2007 Jeep Patriot Limited.
How to join? All letters to US Military members deployed overseas can be submitted at CW11.com/Jeep. Each of these letters will serve as an entry form for the contest.
According to Eric Neilsen, President of the New York Dealer Association, "We are proud and humbled to contribute to a great organization like Operation Gratitude that does so much good in support of our troops. The Jeep was originally developed to serve our military and we are very pleased to be able to continue this tradition in a small way."
The start of the Letter Writing Campaign will be announced at the Shea Stadium on Sunday, July 15, 2007 as part of the Military Appreciation Day held in honor of all US Service Members. Aside from the contest, Mets cap will also be given to the first 25,000 fans to arrive at the stadium courtesy of Jeep.
Guest and participants are also encouraged to bring items which will be collected to form a large care package for Operation Gratitude. Some of the acceptable items for donation include phone cards, DVDs, CDs, Beanie Babies, disposable cameras, batteries of various sizes, baseball caps, and sealed lip balms. There will also be Jeep displays at Gates A, C, and E.
The contest for the Jeep Patriot prize will run through September 17 to conclude in a pre-game ceremony which will be held again at the Shea Stadium on September 30, 2007. Also included in the program will be the announcement of the CW11 letter-writer winner and the Troop recipient of the 2007 Jeep Patriot Limited.
Tickets for the Military Appreciation Day are available at Mets.com or LosMets.com or you may call 718-507-TIXX.
